EXECUTIVE SOUS CHEF
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position reports directly to the Chef de Cuisine and aids in supervising all kitchen operations and Back of House staff to ensure smooth execution of service and continued communication with the Front of House.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assume a leadership role in the kitchen, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring seamless service
- Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of creativity, excellence, and teamwork
- Manage food preparation, presentation and service to meet and exceed quality standards
- Monitor kitchen inventory, control costs, and facilitate efficient ordering of supplies
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and food hygiene
- Assist in developing and implementing kitchen policies and procedures
- “Set the tone” to contribute to maintaining a positive and productive kitchen environment
- Assist with ongoing staff training and taking corrective action
- Assisting with recipe development and updating par sheets
- Help monitor and maintain equipment and facilities
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience as an Executive Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role
- Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to inspire and guide a culinary team
- Strong understanding of empathetic leadership and using a tailored approach
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
- Thorough understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Culinary creativity, technique and innovation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Collaborative approach to effective team management
